Code of Conduct

We want the XP conference to be a welcoming event, where people meet in a friendly environment and engage in civil discussion and debate. Accordingly, we expect all participants to show respect and courtesy to other participants throughout the conference.

To make clear what is expected, we have written and are publishing this Code of Conduct.

In Short

Longer Version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability or physical appearance; display of sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation, stalking or following of participants; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

If a conference participant engages in harassing behaviour, the conference organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.

If you are being harassed or have any other concerns, feel free to contact a member of the conference staff. We will work with you to decide on any steps to be taken. If you wish, we can put you in touch with security staff or help you to contact local law enforcement. We value your attendance and want you to feel safe for the duration of the conference.

This Code of Conduct is not exhaustive. Rather than providing a detailed book of rules, we want to draw on the atmosphere of cooperation that is characteristic of our agile community. While we expect this document to be honored by all participants, we also hope that you will approach it in that spirit, continuing as always to treat fellow community members with respect.

Should you need a private discussion with one of the organisers about a specific problem, whether before, during or after the conference, please contact: conduct@xp2016.org.
